It would be great to see a low stakes assessment of speech and language skills at KS3, so schools know how to help support young people with speech and language challenges. This will ensure they get the right support for all curriculum areas, as well as their mental health!

- six times more likely to be behind in English at age 11
- eleven times more likely to be behind in maths at age 11
- likely to have more mental health problems
