If, in fact, a ceasefire can be reached where this genocide in Gaza is ended and the remaining hostages can be freed from Hamas captivity, then I am in favor of it.
As of this week, in addition to being a doctoral candidate, I’m officially a Teaching Fellow with the UCLA Department of History!

I’m teaching a course on the history of religion in modern South Asia for the duration of the 2025-26 academic year!

Give thanks!
As horrid as I found Charlie Kirk’s views to be, I won’t celebrate his assassination. No one deserves to die that way, and my heart does break for his wife and children, who must now grow up without their father. I wouldn’t wish any of this on my worst enemy.

I will say a prayer for his family.
I never realized that, while pursuing my Ph.D, I would spend so much time trying to improve my high score on Tetris.
Happy birthday, Dad! Nothing gives me more pride than being able to call myself your son! Thank you for planting the seeds of my passions so many years ago.

It’s my honor to celebrate you — today and every day!

I love you, Dad! Here’s to 67 years!

❤️🐻🦁

It’s been eleven years, Mom, and I still miss you just as much.

I love you. ❤️
August 9th always has me thinking of my first home away from home — the Japanese city of #Nagasaki.

80 years ago, an unimaginable horror was unleashed on that city. Atomic weapons should never have been developed, much less used.

God preserve the memory of those who perished on that day. ❤️

Here’s my feature on Collective Shout, and their attempts to take down Steam and itch.io. I found a conversation where they spoke about exactly how they did it, and detailed their plans going forward, which sounds… very unrelenting.

Stephen Colbert debuted a new imitation of JD Vance as a spoiled child just as South Park portrayed the vice president as Trump’s tiny sidekick.

I don’t have kids yet, but I think I can safely say that I’m officially becoming a suburban dad: I’m wearing shorts and a button down while sitting in a recliner and watching football.

Go Seahawks!

I’m happy to announce that, over the course of the coming academic year, I’ll be teaching a course that I designed from scratch!

It’s called: “Great Awakenings in Modern South Asia: Missionary Zeal, Imperial Networks, and New Religious Movements in British India, c. 1850-1925.”

Give thanks! ❤️
Having once lived in a city which was struck with an atomic bomb, I’m of the view that no country on earth should have nuclear weapons. Ever.

SHUT. IT. DOWN.

A senator was dragged out of a press conference for standing up for his constituents and against fascism.

Watch how your representatives and senators respond to their own colleague being treated like this. That'll show you how they'll react when it's *you* on the ground.
Call your senators, demand they shut the Senate down.
On this day in 632 C.E., the Prophet Muhammad died in the city of Medina, likely of a fever.

His friend, Abu Bakr, addressed mourners gathered outside the Prophet's home, saying:

"If any of you worship Muhammad, know that Muhammad is dead. If any of you worship God, know that God lives forever."
