"Belonging" is something I don't apologise for not feeling.

Wandering Sydney city can provide some interesting ponderings.

The convention centre's Sydney Theatre finally got a sponsor after two years without one (previous sponsor was a super fund company)

That said... the naming rights sponsor is TikTok. *UGHHH.*

Can the mid-2020s sod off for one moment 🫠

It might have ads still but at least it's local ads. For somewhere like Goulburn that's like... I've heard what, lawn growers, horse stuff, and the local hunting (gun/archery) shop or something? I guess that works 😅
Capital is far from the only one doing it; what's left of Grant also was trying a narrowcast recreation of the old 3GL around Geelong

My feeling though is these are still far more "Forever Classic" than the 80s/90s stuff they've had to move the likes of GN/XL-FM further toward, in recent years 🫠
February 16, 2026 at 10:52 AM
Kinda decent that the Capital Radio stations found spots to keep their true oldies stuff on narrowcast/DAB with the mainlines moving with the times

It *is* kinda interesting how a few places have managed to suggest 60s/70s music listeners are so off the scale that it's allowed on narrowcast...

Just makes me wish that I didn't have to do as much leg-work for stuff that gets myself going as it eventually does

Or feel like I can be groups that share that type of stuff without feeling like a meat market (sadly, that's not surprising a thing, just from a biology standpoint) 😮‍💨

Also, ergo satellite uplink mention in reaction to that pic
February 16, 2026 at 7:59 AM
Ergo, something like this mash-up I made (with a photo editor app, avoiding the gen-AI nonsense) actually gets me so worked up making the scene as much as the underneath suiting up.

It also doubles as a statement about the shitty internet in Cbr last week. Needed the C-band satellite transmitter 😂
February 16, 2026 at 7:55 AM
One of the worst results of the last 6-12 months was actually pawning off almost all of my computer stuff without replacement, to try and get myself to reset.

That really can't happen again.

Without energy it didn't really matter either way, but fuck I miss toying around in stuff 🫠
February 16, 2026 at 7:45 AM
I guess, if you can't deal with my paradoxical mixed episodes in may bad times, you don't entirely get to earn my probably naturally hypomanic good times. That's how it works, right?

(No Spi, definitely not. 🙃)

Cadbury's AU putting out a pineapple flavoured centre version as an individual bar, makes me wish they'd go back and just go the whole way and do the Snack block as a individual bar (six flavours, six pieces)

Pineapple is at least one of the better flavours of the whole set though...

Also this is how I always feel like I'm like when I've spent 7.5 hrs almost-static in front of the work computer.

I'm not even sure an hour or two at the gym would help.

I did notice that 3-4hrs' aimless wandering around Civic on Sat did help somewhat with tiredness

But I can't do that every day
February 16, 2026 at 6:36 AM
(those who've known me long enough would probably be shocked that I'm turning the air blue since this acct come back. or at least purple.)

(if I'm gonna be stuck with too much energy instead of too little, you're probably going to see how fucking cranky I am about things right now. Soz not soz 🫠)

Post triggered by a Graun UK article about some guy where the thing is about saving current children from all this

They have no hope when their parents had no chance of winning an rigged game based on an ecosystem that old-school out-of-home marketers would absolutely explode in their pants over. 😮‍💨
When so disinterested in offline social, I'm sorta left with the option of either depressive sleep, if my body lets me

or delving deep into burning my body and brain for the night out with things that really aren't much bang for the effort.

Little wonder the gooning often wins. That's not healthy.

I know a good chunk of my to-and-fro from online platforms is my internal compass saying it's pretty much all destructive, especially the 2026 form of it that incentivises (often utterly stupid) eye candy

And when I see an article that reminds me of that compass, it's usually a trigger to---

For some reason Canberra's data network was real crap, even outside the hotel... bit better where I am now

For non-work stuff (since no WPA on latter): to choose between the 600/30 Mbps I get on 5G (*caveat: tested at midnight so more a "potential") or the wifi doing 100/100 sychronous? Oof 🫠

I hate stirring up self-hate of my more well-off self sometimes

but booking a studio room at current stay, and being status-upgraded all the way to their top grade of their three-bed villa (!) is kinda ridiculous 🫠

Once more, the "this place is 50% larger than your permanent space Spi" feeling...
February 15, 2026 at 5:37 AM
I don't care about the various circumstances of this (slight hyper-miling due to lack of rush; the fact the initial Canberra to Sydney part is a 500 metre vertical metre drop, etc)

But Cbr to Lake Macq-ish at 4.6L/100 km (51 mpg-US) is still lovely in my books

The to-and-fro about whether a substitute public holiday would be offered for an Anzac Day that falls on a weekend is always an odd one, and obviously the opinions of the state RSL have to be taken into account

Apparently the NSW one doesn't seem to have much of a problem nowadays...
February 15, 2026 at 12:46 AM
The problem with the Dubai chocolate craze spreading into every dessert store imaginable, is that their own creations kinda miss the point for me

A lot of places throwing pistachios into everything, and hey, who doesn't like more green in their life

But without the kadayif, it just doesn't appeal
February 14, 2026 at 6:43 AM
The last few days have probably made me wish I had my sunflower badge with me, for whatever difference that'd make.

My words have been more upbeat, but also no doubt they've been stereotypically spectrum-level blunt at times, as I deal with my body adjusting.
February 14, 2026 at 6:39 AM
One set of signs in Canberra that I always have a chuckle about are from a local grass company, esp. given the political jokes sometimes on them

"Grows faster than the cost of living" is a bit *too* cutting in current circumstances though; oh dear 😅

(or is it mowing rather than cutting? 🤔🤔)

Consider this a belated #WetsuitWednesday if you may... haven't suited up in ages.

Cool evening in Canberra by summer standards, combined with cold aircon... perfect time for it
February 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM
I'll take hypomanic over energy-suppressed most days of the week (so long as I'm aware of it and take care of myself!)

but fuck, can my sinuses please fuck off for just one moment...
February 13, 2026 at 4:13 AM
A small "boo" to Transport Canberra winding up their zero-fare Friday trial

They did change it to a new trial over the summer, with zero-fare Fri and Sat after 6pm, until the end of this month

For Friday nights I can see that working well. Didn't think there was any Sat nightlife in CBR though?? 🙃

One oft-forgotten part of the age assurance stuff in Australia - perhaps in the background of the 16+ social media restriction - is that they want that as POC of putting realistic (ie. any) barriers behind 18+ content too. ISTR the deadline for that being March.

There will be screaming about it.
February 12, 2026 at 8:25 AM
I *really* am struggling at the other end of the day of 5-hour sleep last night (minus what I described in a prior skeet)

but I got through it, and it's Thursday evening thankfully

Just hoping the rest of my body concurs that it would be good to at least close my eyes and rest properly tonight...
