Interested in most wildlife, moths in particular even those brightly coloured day flying ones that think they’re something special. Based in West Yorks but a stones throw away from the South Yorks border, VC63.

No trapping tonight as I’ve got the lurgy and feel rubbish. Did manage to drag myself from my sick bed to photograph this, what I think is Mompha sturnipennella, on the bedroom window though. ID correction / confirmation most welcome. #teammoth

My September is not getting any better. Just a single Large Yellow Underwings in the garden trap (VC63) this morning (14/9) plus a couple of snails as bycatch (which tells you all you need to know about last nights weather). #teammoth
So not only have I got to try and not get caught out by Caddisflies pretending to be moths, now you tell me I need to check for moths pretending to be Caddisflies. No wonder my head hurts.
My disappointing September continues with just 6 moths of 3 species in the garden trap (VC63) this morning (9/9) including Square-spot Rustic (3), Large Yellow Underwing (2) and Lesser Yellow Underwing (1) #teammoth
Another slightly disappointing catch with 28 moths of 10 species in the garden trap (VC63) this morning (7/9). Highlights hidden amongst the Yellow Underwings included Short-cloaked moth, Pale Mottled Willow and Single-dotted Wave. #teammoth

I got a nice little oak wood just a the bottom of the street which has served me well over the years :)
I’ve not had one for ages then caught 2 this year. They are one of those moths that never look as good in a photo than they do in real life.
Just 31 moths of 9 species in the garden trap (VC63) this morning (1/9) most of which were Large Yellow Underwing. Nothing NFY but Brindled Green and Centre-barred Sallow are always nice to see. #teammoth

No trapping tonight but did rescue this NFY Small Ranunculus from my bedroom. #teammoth

Some unforcast rain meant a rather damp garden trap to open this morning (19/8). 58 moths of 28 species with 4 NFY wasn’t too disappointing however. The NFYs including two Nutmeg, a Sallow and a handful of Pale Mottled Willow. #teammoth

Disturbed this Small Dusty Wave while in garden and luckily it decided to settle on the back door for a photo. #teammoth
50 moths of 40 species in the VC63 garden trap this morning (15/8). Flame Carpet and Flounced Rustic were NFY, along with a few micros including Carrion Moth and Honeysuckle Moth (whose names, and I assume habits, could not be further apart). #teammoth
