2025 Media Thread Begins Here:
1) The Karate Kid Part II
Having finished Part 1 recently, I wanted to watch this and Part 3. And Part 2 is pretty good. Now, the script isn't as tight as the first movie's, and honestly the stakes seem a bit less grounded and more fantastical than the first movie's...

Just finished the Season 2 finale of Peacemaker. It was okay, but the previous episode was everything 8 should've been. It really felt like a wind-down finale coming after the seventh episode.

Buyers: So your games... guns and football, yes?

EA: Mmhmm, mmhmm, mostly guns and football, yep.

Buyers: No gay stuff? No politics we're not going to like?

EA: Haha, definitely not! Hey, could you give me one sec? I just need to shut down a studio real quick.

Okay, why did nobody tell me Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba finally released the long awaited fourth Umbrella Academy miniseries? It's called Plan B and will feature the Sparrow Academy introduced in the end of Hotel Oblivion. The first two issues are out now, so I'm definitely giving it a read.

I'd say so for the first issue. In the back, Fraction said something about how while there will be a continuous story; each issue will be self contained with a clear beginning, middle and end. And that is a great approach I wish more comics aspired to have.

I also greatly appreciate how it updates me on the status quo in case I missed it, which I did. Gordon is now a beat cop. Vandal Savage is the new Gotham Commissioner. Like, I don't know how that happened, but I'm not overwhelmed by the changes either. A lot is familiar, but a lot is also new.

Ngl, I started reading the new Batman relaunch written by the legendary Matt Fraction and I love the direction it's going in already. Batman has a very techy suit that feels in line with the 2020's, but the character work is strong with Fraction's idea of Batman being a compassionate crusader.

If you see this, quote with the energy you bring to Bluesky

--you need them like invisibility for example. This is a feature that games like Duke Nukem 3D would later popularize and it's cool to see this in a Doom engine game before the Build engine dominated the FPS market. Not sure if it's the first, but it's really useful.

My good friend Stephanie and I have been playing co-op Heretic, since the new remaster of that and Hexen has been out. I might honestly prefer Heretic to Doom. Steph is right about the lack of hitscanners being really nice. But also, you can hold items in an inventory slot and use them when...

I have no idea yet. Honestly didn't play too many 2025 releases. But I have a feeling years from now, Hollow Knight: Silksong or DK Bananza might rank up there. The year is young. Oh, and how could I forget Prime 4: Beyond? That's due to be released in December.

Great movie. Back then, the most disturbing thing about that movie was its depiction of mental hospitals, which scared the f*** out of me back then.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

My strict dad was like "I know this is Rated R, but I'm gonna let you and your sister watch this. There is a lot of swearing, but nothing you two haven't heard your mother and I say before. You'll also see somone's ass, but we all have them so no big deal."

Name the first R rated Film you saw.

I prefer Doom 2 over Doom 1. It's challenging in all the best ways for me, and more ambitious in the best ways. It does have lower lows than Doom 1...unless you count Episode 4: Thy Flesh Consumed...which then makes Doom 2 way higher than Doom 1.

Not a big REM guy, but I always liked "Half A World Away." Been a fan since it played on that one Scrubs episode.

"We're absolutely American and distinctly so, I think. That's part of what people respond to outside of this country, part of the reason that we're such a huge band outside of the U.S., where we're not so popular now as we were 10 or 12 years ago."

I need to give Uprising a serious playthrough. I have it floating around somewhere in my room.

It really gets better every playthrough. By the second one, it became one of my favorite FPS games.
sqgreviewshow.bsky.social
Here's the complete list up to 2024. I like how it turned out, all things considered. Was a little worried it might have too many platformers, but my friends assured me I'm allowed to have a genre type.

So far, this is what I have from 1985 to 2009. Some years were better than others, but goddamn it's been smooth sailing since 1989 and just never had a dry spell of games.
sqgreviewshow.bsky.social
Deciding what my favorite game of each year is a daunting task. So many great games in 1994, 1997, 2001, 2004, and 2011.

Boy Meets World. The removal of Minkus and less focus on Corey's family in favor of an annoyingly rocky Corpanga romance kind of killed the heart of the show. I do think Seasons 2 and 3 are good, but Seasons 4 and 5 were the low point of the show. Season 6 and 7 were decent, though.

I keep forgetting that David Cross was in Small Soldiers. That movie is a real who's who of actors before they got super famous.
