the only thing is everything
at least now countries subjected to imf nonsense know we actually believe all that austerity bullshit, as we are now demonstrating like some inexperienced escape artist drowning themselves

trump is really turning a big dial that says "tariffs" on it and ignoring screams from the audience like a contestant on the price is right

there is no significant ideologically liberal population in this country. the democrats are a center right party representing the interests of the urban educated professional class
One reason why Trumpism has succeeded is that the right has come to recognize that the putative commitments many people have to liberalism are actually extremely thin and fake and, as far as elites are concerned, actually deployed instrumentally against constituencies the right also hates.

it's just natural economic forces that make labor intensive goods like housing cost way more than highly efficient goods like software. one necessary part of the solution to the housing problem is to make construction more labor efficient

the uk is just not a serious country
The defence spending commitment is a plan to spend a lot of money, with details of what it will achieve to follow.

A key aim is to not be invaded, but beyond that the details begin to waver.
How will Britain pay for higher military spending?
The defence budget is already a procurement disaster.

a lot of ai maximalists view themselves as Big Ideas people. their great obstacle in life is the creatives who refuse to quickly and cheaply create their vision.

this might be the first recession created solely by excessive layoffs from incompetent executives

look i don't mean to rain on your parade but you don't need a nefarious evil to explain why people are ignorant and hateful. it's the default state of humans and the one they will return to just as soon as any force contrary abates

one of the reasons queer people tend to extremes is that coming out is a microcosm of the broader minority experience of polite liberals meaning nothing they say.

if nothing else the utter recklessness, ignorance, and incompetence of the current admin's government shredding tells me they have no idea how fragile and vulnerable they really are

it is abundantly clear that europe needs to remilitarize. it's totally unclear whether it can

enormously tired of liberals mocking trump and elon by implying they're gay, kinky, making fun of how they look, and on and on. so many people are bigots looking for an excuse

i am begging right wingers to realize foreign aid is indirect support of our defense industry

i'm fairly sure that large corporations are sufficiently insulated from reality they could replace their entire software engineering staff with ai and not notice the problem for years

i keep hearing that critical thinking and truth are in danger but i'm not convinced there ever was such a time that they existed
February 11, 2025 at 1:33 AM
it's boring, but the biggest danger the new admin poses isn't that they'll destroy democracy, it's that they'll torpedo the bond markets and send the world into a depression
February 10, 2025 at 11:57 PM
i dunno if it is possible to describe the total, incandescent love i have for my child. it's actually really weird, phenomenologically speaking.

one common error is leftists assuming their level of acceptable ideological discord is similar to that of rightists

so $900/hr for this model. just a little more expensive than people. add on what investors expect for margins in tech (~75%) and we're up to a very normal $1600/hr
So if I’m understanding this right it costs the *company* $20 per prompt. So that means they’ll have to charge the user even more than that to make a profit
December 26, 2024 at 7:40 PM
imagine being so insecure that you need to believe you are in the top 80,000 people in the world lmao
when you subtract the racism and ideology, this is really why elon twitter is so unpleasant. its just nonstop boasting and bragging
