New to hypnosis? Got some concerns? Communication is an essential part of the process. You and your Hypnosis partner should have a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish with your session.

Hypnosis has a lot in common with meditation. It's not exactly a 'mode' your mind slips into per se. it's more like being deeply focused. You might have experienced something similar when you are driving, or hyperfixated on a task like writing, drawing, or even playing video games. With a lot of self discipline, meditation can be good for your mental health.
Lager: But in order to accomplish the things that you'd like in hypnosis, that can take a LOT of mental discipline. I've never been able to do much with meditation beyond falling asleep. Darkwitt: Which is where the hypnotist can help. Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. Some describe it as like taking a power nap, others are completely aware of everything, and some don't remember anything at all. Some describe it as like being a passenger in your own body. You can't predict what peering into someone's mind might be like. But to at least get an idea, It helps to have a pre-talk. 1. have you been hypnotized before? 2. What are you expecting out of hypnosis? 3. Are you free of distractions, or is there a chance something might come up? 4. are you easily startled? 5. Do you typically find yourself easily distracted or have a hard time focusing? 6. Is there anything about your physical or mental well being you feel I should know about? 7. Do you have any fears or soft/hard limit to topics I should avoid in my descriptions? ) 8. What concerns do you have about trance that I could answer for you? Do you have anything you'd like to know, Lager? Lager: Well, now that I think about it. 1. Should I be sitting or laying down? 2. Should I play music? 3. Is there a swirl I can look at or can I close my eyes? 4. Will I remember anything in trance? 5. Is it okay if there's other people in the house? 6. Should I not go under if I do have anxiety/depression/other conditions? 7. do I need to strictly control my breathing? 8. Should I let a friend know I am doing hypnosis?
