What we don’t talk about when we talk about AI

A massive strategic defeat for Putin and for Russia.
Until a week ago, criminals around the world could still tell each other that Moscow are bastards but at least they stand up for their brothers-in-crime.
Not any more.
Moscow abandoned the Assad regime.
Because Moscow is weak and unreliable.

💯 agree. Assad is a monster. The crimes he's committed are barely comprehensible. The war in Syria is, and always has been, incredibly complex, and there are real concerns over some of the factions who make up the Syrian rebels. But Assad's downfall is to be celebrated.
My heart is so full seeing Syrians celebrating, statues toppled, torture cells opened, Russians fleeing.

Syria has so much uncertainty still ahead, but would never ever be free under the butcher & war criminal Assad.

Hearing friends talk of being able to go back to see their homes again at last 😭🥰

Russia will no longer be able to use the heartbreaking human suffering in Syria as a weapon, driving refugees to try to destabilise European countries.

yes, the quality, size, & representatives of your training data does to some extent impact the performance of your system. but that's far from the whole story. automation by its very nature forces quantification and most social, cultural, political phenomena resist quantification
