Frame 2: The stranger leans close to Star Boy and glances over, their sparkles lighting up a little as they get close, and conspiratorially says, “Nice hat.” Frame 3: The stranger scoots back to the other side of the bench as if nothing had happened. Frame 4: “Uh...” Star Boy says, while the stranger notices the glowing sparkles with interest, “Thanks. Your hat is very nice, too.” Frame 5: The stranger hops up onto the bench, turning to face Star Boy as they execute a mixed bow and curtsy, sweeping off their hat and revealing a mini top hat underneath, saying, “I'm Zephyr, they/them, the most extra person in the world, at your service!” Frame 6: Zephyr is seated again, just as face, now looking at Star Boy who says, “... Frame 4: “Huh,” Star Boy says, glancing over his shoulder at the person who just walked past. “Well, it wasn't a scream. I think it's working.” Frame 5: Star Boy is wearing the bowler hat and walking through a crowd of disinterested people, thinking, “It's like I'm not even here. Is this what it feels like to be just like everyone else...? Frame 6: “It's kinda boring,” Star Boy thinks as he continues to walk through the crowd. “But it's also kind of nice.” Frame 7: Star Boy sits on the bench at a bus stop, saying, “Phew. Star Boy is standing by Dwyn, who is attaching diodes connecting him to a laptop on a table. Beside the laptop is a strange machine with antennae, a screen, dials, switches, and a wire connecting it to a cuff. “It's done! Time for testing” Dwyn says. “What is it?” Star Boy asks. “First I need to get some new readings to compare to the old ones...” Dwyn says before answering, “In theory, it's something like a battery.” Frame 2: “It should allow be to collect and store some of your star energy so I can experiment with it,” Dwyn says as she works on the laptop. “Hmm... It looks like your readings are the same as before. That means you haven't built up more energy than you had the day we met. So we can rule out you storing up enough energy to escape Earth's gravitational field on your own.” Frame 3: “We'll just slip this on you, then I flip this switch...” Dwyn says, slipping the cuff over one of Star Boy's limbs and reaching for the machine. Frame 4: In a series of frames, the screen on the machine begins to rapidly fill up with yellow as Dwyn's smile becomes more concerned and surprised. BOOM! Frame 5: Star Boy and Dwyn stare blankly into space while the cuff on Star Boy's limb is attached to a shattered machine. Dwyn's hair has turned yellow and is sticking up in every direction, and the air is filled with clouds of smoke. Frame 6: “I may have underestimated the volume of energy you produce,” Dwyn says, bulling her hair back into a ponytail as the colour fades out of it. “It's like you've got a nuclear reactor in there!” “Well, I am a star, after all,” Star Boy points out. Frame 1: Two stick figures are conversing. “Have you ever considered donating or subscribing to the Star Boy comics?” “Why would I pay money for something that's free?” Star Boy, having overheard this conversation, chimes in, “No. Absolutely not.” Frame 2: “Well, you see,” says the first person, “simple as the comics are, it still takes the artist 4-8 hours to make each one, and that's not including time spent planning and plotting. Right now, the artist is a stay-at-home parent, so that time is available, but when the kids go to school it will be time to seek paying work. That wouldn't leave time for making comics.” Star Boy chimes in again, saying, “Yes! Exactly! Let them D*e.” Frame 3: “However,” the person continues, “if the artist makes enough money from these comics, there will be no need for a job to help the family make ends meet. That would mean these comics could continue to be produced as long as ideas for more exist. Better yet, if you looked into the history of the Star Boy comics, you'll know that they essentially started as the artist trolling a friend. So, by giving the artist money, you're helping to make trolling a friend a full-time job for someone.” Star Boy, looking slightly distressed, says, “Please no. So, I try to be efficient with what I have. Some day I hope to live somewhere much bigger – with my own lab, if I can manage it!” Frame 2: Dwyn begins measuring Star Boy. “Alright, let's get your measurements,” she says. “Then I'll see if I can calculate your mass and gravitational force.” Frame 3: “How did you end up falling to Earth, anyway?” Dwyn asks, turning away to write on the chalkboard. “Oh, well, you know,” Star Boy replies. “I saw this pretty blue and green planet, and wanted closer look. But it was bigger than I thought, and I got caught in its gravity.” Frame 4: “Hmm...” Dwyn says, continuing her writing. “So the gravitational pull was already too strong for you. Let's see... F = G * (m1 * m2) / r^2... And over here we'll factor in that you lost maybe 80% of your mass on entry...” Frame 5: Dwyn turns to Star boy, looking concerned. “I'm afraid it doesn't look very good. I think you're too small to escape Earth's gravity now, even if we found a method to get you enough inertia. Frame 1: Dwyn's eyes are all that is visible in a completely dark frame, saying, “Just wait there for a moment. I know it's bad design, but the light switch is on the other side of the room. Ouch!” Frame 2: Star Boy enters the room, lighting it up. He says, “Are you okay, Dwyn?” Holding her knee with a pained expression, Dwyn replies, “Yeah, I'm fine. It happens all the time.” Frame 3: “Woah!” Dwyn says, surprised as she realises that Star Boy is shedding the light filling the room. “You really brighten up a room. You'll never have to worry about electricity bills.” Frame 4: Dwyn leads Star Boy into her home, saying, “Come over here and I'll introduce you to the internet.” “Who is the Internet?” Star Boy asks. Frame 5: Star Boy is brought to a computer. Dwyn explains, “The internet isn't a who, it's a what. It's kinda like a faerie realm. It's full of strange people to whom you should never give your real name, there's an excess of inexplicable things, and there are parts of it you should avoid at all cost. However, it is also a repository for pretty much all the knowledge in the world, which means you can use it to learn all about Earth and the people here.” Frame 6: Dwyn approaches Star Boy with a pair of electrodes. Star Boy is at the computer saying, “Aww, look at all the kitties!” Dwyn says, “Yes, well, I was hoping you'd find something a bit more educational than pet videos. Don't mind me; I'm just attaching some electrodes to take some readings from you. Frame 7: Dwyn sits on the floor working on a laptop with wires leading to the electrodes on Star Boy, who is grinning at the computer singing, “Badger, badger, badger, badger...” “Like I said, inexplicable,” Dwyn says. “Just like you. What would you like to do?” Frame 2: Star Boy sits in thoughtful silence at a TTRPG table populated with minis while the two people on his side of the table say, “I grin and point at my axe, then at the enemies in the room, and nod enthusiastically.” and, “I turn into a spider and crawl along the roof to spy on the enemies.” Frame 3: Three more people sit on the other side of the TTRPG table.
