1) Specifying no FICTIONAL noncon
2) No "dangerous" kink
3) No DISCUSSING self harm, suicide, or substance abuse unless its "educational"

It allowed me to stay informed without feeling like it was never-ending and impossible to deal with everything.

The thing is, in the end, you are important and you do have to keep yourself safe. Doing what you can, when you can, is not letting anybody down, you know?

Step away and take your time without guilt. There's absolutely no shame in taking care of yourself. If you struggle with guilt, pre-determine where you're going to get news and how often to stay connected without getting overwhelmed. I honestly found something like The Week useful.

No. We're plugged into a constant nightmare news machine in a way people have never been before, and we're not equipped to deal with it. Taking some time to make sure you're not burning out on despair isn't the same as hiding. Stay plugged in too long and it becomes impossible to care about it all.
