I made this cake for my mother's 76 birthday. She's the wisest person I know and I love her dearly. Orange chocolate sponge, orange buttercream, frosting, with candied orange slices.

Let them boogie, indeed.

Was thinking about why the latest Lex Luther produced annoyance in me rather than the awe/fear I felt when I was young. I think the adage of "never meet your heros" applies to villains as well. We've met the folks dismantling society (Musk, Putin, Zuck, Bezos) and they are profoundly underwhelming

Star Trek SNW getting some shade because some of its episodes were wierd. Personally, I'd rather have a show that treis new things and misses sometimes rather than palying it safe all the time. Four.five Vulcans was comedy gold, and the Terrarium was an instant classic. Solid season. #starTek #SNW

Watching the first few minutes of Alien:Earth and thinking that I'm this trillionaire psycho had invested his money into cancer research, this girl wouldn't have needed to download her consciousness into a hybrid. This show is doing what good scifi us supposed to do. Hold up a mirror...

Watched the new Superman over the weekend and thought it was 'ok'. However, it got me nostalgic for the original Superman with C Reeve and on rewatch its such a good movie. Exact same vibes as Start Trek 4 with the whales. Optimistic, whimsical, stranger in a strage land, vibes...

Someone is selling realistic plush imitations of your pet's head for golf club covers. They are definately crossing into Uncanny Valley territory...

I've been doing some form of resistance training for about 10 years now. Today I did deadlifts for the first time...they have the platonically ideal name because my legs are DEAD!

Finished up Andor S2 last night. Fantastic political drama, great worldbuilding, and characters you loved/despised/epathized with. Like The Dark Crystal series a few years ago, I'm not sure we'll ever see another SW show like it.

Made this strawberry dessert. Similar to a Clafoutis, but like a pudding instead of a cake. It's delicious.

Mythic Quest is still an utter delight. Such a good cast and group of characters.

"Shovel Guy" by Paulie. A cool one-shot that casts snow shoveling in Buffalo as a cage-match with a force of nature.

With Prime removing Seasons 1-3 of The Expanse, and with the golden age of streaming over, I've re-started purcahsing physical media, starting with the #expanse boxed set. Its too good of a show not to be able to share it with who I want.

How nice is it to log in to social media and see things that I WANT to see, and nothing that I don't? Forgot how nice the internet was before everything was monetized.

@bsky.app is starting to feel like the old place did back in the aughts. Lots of enthusiastic folks skeeting about things they loved and wanted to share + harmless banal posts about whatever...I'd forgotten social media can be fun.
