Really good panel about reporting on big industries like tobacco, fossils fuels and the "vast harm" they create.

Ben Hallman of @theexamination.org speaks of “corporate determinants of health” and how industry shapes public health narratives.

To put this in context, a US-wide study, published in @thelancet.bsky.social finds an association between PFAS in tap water & cancers of endocrine, digestive, respiratory systems, the oral cavity, pharynx, & skin. We cannot afford to fall behind on controlling PFAS. id.elsevier.com/as/authoriza...

PFAS contamination is driving up water treatment costs—€18B/year for drinking water alone. Without a full ban & the polluter-pays principle, consumers will bear the burden.

Prevention is key to safeguarding Europe’s water. Read more: www.eureau.org/resources/pu...

Big news: A new EPA study finds that millions of acres of farmland are likely polluted w/ #PFAS from sewage sludge spread over the fields as fertilizer—a practice EPA has long promoted. The implications for our food system are hard to overstate. h/t @ewg

We need to stop PFAS pollution accumulating further.
Our new report & collaboration with #ForeverLobbying Project exposes the corporate fight against the EU’s PFAS restriction.
We have to win it!

Read it here & sign the petition to #BanPFAS 👉 corporateeurope.org/en/chemical-...

🧵 Our results show:
Logo of Corporate Europe Observatory at the top left corner, at the bottom left corner there is the URL www.corporateeurope.org and at the bottom right one the logos of social media networks instagram, Facebook, mastodon and bluesky.
The word “Report” is highlighted and then followed by the bigger words: “Chemical reaction”, followed by the subtitle, in smaller font: “Inside the corporate fight against the EU’s PFAS restriction”
At the right of the words is an infinity mathematical sign, an Erlenmeyer flask and the representation of PFAS molecules. The background of the image is green.
