T2. Dont trust the tool. Its a tool. Trust yourself (oneself?) first.

in a Pre-AI world; Stanislav Petrov choose to trust himself & judge a computer as giving a false alarm, preventing war. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisl...

T2. This is an issue because many teens and young adults often tend to go to AI therapy apps to air out their issues....to the point that they do it without surveillance, and consequences. While it is a ready AI to talk to, I think it is not a substitute for actually going to therapy. #healthxph
AI promises efficiency but raises safety concerns. How do we validate tools? What if it contradicts our judgment?
Lets go to T2: What would make you trust—or distrust—an AI tool for Filipino patients? #Healthxph

T2. I would be wary of something that oversimplifies or boxes diagnoses. In the same way I would distrust an AI tool that claims to be good for therapy, and "replace a therapist", because let's face it, there are incidences where AI use has led to suicide, or the tendency for it to pander. #healthxph

T1. I'm not 100% confident yet... I do a lot of research on it though, but mostly, because of habit, I rely on my own systems. However, I've seen how much time it saves, because with just a few steps, it gives you more results than if you were doing it manually. #healthxph
Many doctors feel unsure which AI tools matter and what skills will keep them relevant.
T1: How confident are you using AI in practice today? What skills/training do Filipino physicians need ASAP? #healthxph

Medical education has to change.

The future of medical education will emphasize adaptability and patient-centered care, integrating technologies like AI and VR and focusing on data analytics, interdisciplinary collaboration, and lifelong learning.

For tonight’s topic on the #Healthxph chat, we’ll be doing #MedEd, with the following topics. I’m hosting tonight. See you fam and friends!

“The Healthcare Worker as an Educator: Teacher and Lifelong Learner”

My last thought for the evening...

May we always find fulfillment, and the energy to share our experiences with those who can also teach us.

Have a great Saturday, everyone!

We have a couple of minutes before 10PM...any final thoughts on the topic? #healthxph
November 15, 2025 at 1:59 PM
I experienced a sense of stagnation and dullness in the semesters that I wasn't teaching. Sure, I had more time (or the semblance of it), but it felt unfulfilling. I am excited to teach again. #healthxph
Truth be told, it is one of the highlights of the teaching hour ma'am...you want to give them that moment, because that is emotional involvement (and that equals better learning!). #healthxph
The students will appreciate it Steph! I really wait for that light bulb moment when you can see comprehension dawn on their faces. So worth it! #healthxph

Making good exams is also a challenge. Training on test construction never grows old for a teacher. #HealthXPH We also have to make sure the questions reflect what we have taught and what the students should have learned.
T2. Making instructional materials requires careful thought and preparation, which is an added load to the work of a clinician. However, if we want to really prepare medical students for their exposure to the specialty and to encourage more applicants, we need to hustle. #healthxph

T3. I remember a mentor who emphasized that we shouldn't be doing just plain work in the clinics with patients all the time, she taught that it was essential that we also taught students, as it keeps us young, and helps us to recalibrate ourselves. It keeps us, "fresh". #healthxph
T3. Do you feel that teaching is essential to your career as a #HealthcareWorker? Why or Why Not? #Healthxph

Teaching keeps your mind alert! The opportunity to reach young minds hopefully makes up for minutes lost in traffic. #healthxph

When classes conflict with meetings and patient emergencies, it's a problem. I'm glad technology provides solutions for this like asynchronous sessions, video lectures and assignments on LMS. #healthXPH
T2. What challenges do you encounter often as a teacher in your field of work (i.e. in terms of student population/demographic, place of teaching/scheduling)? #Healthxph

T2. My current teaching schedule is one hour three times a week for a few weeks, but it needs to be managed well, logistically, after all, the school is a bit of a distance and is on an hour where traffic in the city is pretty congested. #healthxph

Hello Jim! Cebu was badly hit. People have not really bounced back from the earthquake yet, and the typhoon Tino hit with storm surge and floods within the metropolis with many houses swept away. #HealthXPH We are still distributing relief goods, and it's still raining outside :-(

T1. It is a rarity to have someone want to be aspire to go into the field of mental health, so in lectures, it sometimes feels like running an "ad" for a specialty that attracts few. Getting them interested, hopefully gets people to consider the specialty. #healthxph
T1. Do you have a memorable teaching moment as a Healthcare Worker? Share your anecdotes. #Healthxph

T1. In Psych classes, which I teach, I always like to wander around the classroom, asking questions. It amuses me that students pay more attention with proximity and getting actively asked during lectures. They respond less to a straight lecture, but would rather hear about cases. #healthxph
