🗣️A democratic lawmaker, Rep. Chris England of Tuscaloosa, prefiled—ahead of Alabama’s next legislative session on Jan. 13—HB 76, which would ban the #deathpenalty in the state. It’s unlikely to pass the Republican-controlled legislature where there’ll be efforts to expand capital punishment in 2026.

The next gassing-execution date hasn’t been set. Yet.
