While I agree with you that the current situation is u precedented and a threat to our economic growth - we need to be careful where we cut. Especially to departments which have lacked proper support for decades.

We’re advocating for Canadian research. Just look at the current situation in the United States—Canada has an opportunity to support research and emerge as a global leader in science and research. With access to Horizon Europe and other agencies, we can truly take advantage and invest in the future.

Investing in research and science has shown historically to benefit society and promote economic growth. Funding research and science helps Canada.

We have to be prepared. After years of lacklustre support for science… Budget 2024 announced a series of positive changes for science funding. Can’t reverse those changes.

🚨 The Canadian gov’t plans 15% across-the-board cuts to federal departments — which may include major science budgets.

If science funding is cut, graduate students, postdocs, & labs nationwide will feel the impact.

Science is our future — not a cost to cut.
