Seems to me that a lot of people have very selective memories about how competitive most 4-team CFP games were and how much the non-playoff bowls “mattered” to the teams playing in them.

Pitt had hosted an AP ranked opponent as a ranked opponent twice from 2015 through 2024. Now they’ll do it twice in 2025.
