Just out for #Halloween. Apparently, the #wine label glows in the dark, useful if you're thirsty during a power cut.
US60.00 plus credit card fee, so about $61. That's just over £45, which is a bit steep for a DVD, even a limited-edition pressing.
I keep hearing great things about Yippee Ki-Yay Mother Video's DVD of Albert Pyun's workprint for the Captain America #movie he directed in 1990. It's longer than the released version and is apparently much more coherent. US$33 plus international shipping is a bit of an obstacle, but time will tell.
BREAKING NEWS: Coffee cups contain liquids.
Just learned Dark Horse published an updated edition of Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In yesterday. My old copy is in storage somewhere (I need more shelf space!), but it's a fun overview of the #horror and #exploitation #movie genre.

It really irritates me that the BBC grabs the majority of the licence fee (a little goes to C4 and S4C), whilst true heroes such as the folks behind @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social have to fight for every penny. (Disclosure: I do know Sarah, who runs this fantastic channel with her father & husband.)
Typical: every time I really get into a #writing rhythm, my pet #dinosaurs start playing up.

Physical media, so it still counts. What I refuse to get involved with is paying for online libraries where films, tv shows or music you've paid for can be re-edited or even deleted without warning.
Seriously, #BlueSky, these images are "adult" and need hiding behind a warning? There's no nudity, unless a bare male chest counts.

Also: own, don't rent, buy physical media.
The next issue of Yours Retro hits newsstands on 23 October, featuring my article on Lt Columbo's slow route to #television success and its regular battles to stay on air. For the next nine days, you can still pick up the current edition, with my profile of #actor David Soul. #magazine #journalism
Frank Frazetta's 1970 cover painting for Edgar Rice Burrough's John Carter novel A Princess of Mars and Robert McGinnis's 1959 cover for Gloria & Forrest Flickling's Honey West thriller Girl on the Prowl are among Heritage Auctions' latest lots.

As I might have mentioned, I never watch terrestrial television at home, mainly because the BBC demands I pay it £174.50pa* (even though I have no desire to partake of its product) or face prosecution, which I consider a protection racket. Anyway, here's some current viewing. Spot a trend?

I know some #actors are deeply narcissistic, but hadn't realised it had reached the point where they were marrying themselves.
Charles Shultz's newspaper strip Peanuts marked its 75th birthday on Thursday. Here's how United Features announced its imminent launch to potential subscribers. #cartoons #artwork
I always loved Basil Gogos's cover paintings for Famous Monsters of Filmland, and here's his debut in 1960 (issue 9, Vincent Price), plus another from 1961 (issue 16, Lon Chaney). Trivia: the cover star for the first two issues was publisher James Warren, wearing #horror masks.

I didn't particularly enjoy Abrams' pastiches, and Kurtzman's cosplay leaves me cold.
The old definition for an alcoholic was someone who drank more than their doctor.
Like all the coloured bottles in Scotty's quarters are just part of the decor.
Pity the shows they were in are so dissimilar.
Perhaps the early replicators couldn't handle fruit.
I've interviewed #sciencefiction and #fantasy #artist David Hardy several times over the 48 years I've known him, but this was the first occasion, for the Solihull News in 1979. Incidentally, one of his superb lunar portraits hangs on the nearest wall as I write this, bought for my wife. #journalism
Many US production companies film in Europe and Canada (particularly the latter, due to much lower costs), or engage in co-production deals with foreign companies (such as Disney's deal with the BBC on #DoctorWho). These tariffs will be absurdly difficult, if not impossible, to administrate.
Let's hope he doesn't eat the herd.
