Interesting analysis. It does overlook a few things that I’ve experienced anecdotally though. One, the racism towards blacks and two, the sexism.

The reason why Congress wasn’t consulted is simple: there’s no proof that drugs were being smuggled in. What it is about is the big bad US attacking Spanish speaking people because Miller and Trump hate Latinos. If I was the Cartels, I would spill the beans on CIA’s involvement with drugs.

I tried to talk to a former teaching colleague and they didn’t want to discuss it. She’s a union rep, but the school she teaches at doesn’t have a lot of kids whose families depend on SNAP. That is why we have Trump, no one cares about their neighbor anymore.
