Former St. Louis Mayor James Conway has died.

The native St. Louisan led the city from 1977 to 1981, during which time the city consolidated its hospitals and boosted development downtown. Conway was 93 years old.

A company that’s renovating downtown Alton has launched its citywide fiber internet network.

But, with monetary support from the city, it says it’s caring for 350 animals a month with funding meant for just 180.
