But maybe let’s all stop being shocked by this?
The constant shock in 2025 is tiring. We know that the media works this way so shouting about it only tires us out.

We dismantle it by using clearer language ourselves.
Those inside the media system are bound by their own sick system.

Years of training in much of the media to use sentences that avoid naming those in power who have actively done these things.
It continues to obfuscate the issue.
As if the malignant force is passively just happening, not actively perpetrated. A weapon of a coloniser culture.

Thank you for phrasing it so well and so clearly.
The de-centring of the rapist is so constant and powerful.
“A child was abused/a woman was raped”. All passive placing the victim as the only active agent thereby blaming them.
Your phrasing centres the abuser. It clarifies the horror.
