Updated, 10/9, 9:30 a.m. - Newsom has signed AB 697, the one making it easier to expand a freeway through protected marshlands that might be underwater in a couple of decades.

Two other updates:
1) Newsom hasn't acted on any of the seven bills listed in this piece
2) In his time in office, two pieces of legislation got a "pocket signature," so expect action sometime this week.

Mea cupla on me. I wrote in this piece that legislation the governor doesn't sign or veto receives a "pocket veto." While that's true in D.C. and New Jersey (where I once worked as a lobbyist), but not in California. If Newsom doesn't act on leg., it becomes law.
