Starmer has the certainty of a junkie in believing the lies he tells everyone else and himself. His own backbenchers don't believe him.
BREAKING: Keir Starmer insists to Beth Rigby that Labour kept to their manifesto promises and 'won't apologise for lifting children out of poverty'

Well what a surprise!

If this Budget doesn't make Conservatives finally come up with a coherent case for a smaller state, Triple Lock-abandoning and all, then all those fireworks from Kemi at the despatch box won't count for anything

There isn't actually anything in the "leaked OBR report" that Reeves hadn't already leaked or had briefed out herself. It suits Labour to have a row about the OBR rather than their chaotic Budget, of course
The Office for Budget Responsibility’s document setting out its forecasts has accidentally been published before the budget.

The document should not have been published until Rachel Reeves’s speech in the Commons

Somewhere on high, Hugh Dalton is having a bloody good laugh
As bad as your day might be, it could be worse, you could be the person who accidentally published the OBR's budget document a couple of hours early: obr.uk/docs/dlm_upl...

This is quite comical considering the last time a Russian spy was found to be working for an MP, it was for a Lib Dem MP.
Nathan Gill has been sentenced to 10.5 years for endangering national security and taking Russian bribes.

Nigel Farage and Reform are a danger to national security, the Liberal Democrats will continue to hold them to account and defend our democracy.

Reeves putting up tariff barriers to "save the High St" while taxing High St retail out of business is so fucking clueless I nearly threw my phone at the wall

I don't think we should leave the ECHR, and I don't think we should persecute refugees either. So it's weird to see Labour MPs criticise Badenoch for wanting to do the former while proposing to do the latter.

Reeves has normalised Budget leaks but more newly Budget unleaks
- Govt says decision to drop income tax plan nothing to do with political fall-out after Reeves signalled manifesto breach

- Defend decision to 'roll the pitch' on income tax rises - at that point they thought it might be necessary & leaving to just before budget would've spooked MPs and markets

And of course the other thing to this is that George Madgwick wanted to be a Conservative Councillor himself not that long ago. I think we dodged more than the one bullet.

This Labour government is rerunning the catastrophic economic policy failures and bitter personal squabbles of the 60s Wilson government so precisely it feels like a deliberate re-enactment

Trump is a dreadful enough character that telling the truth and using his own words straight should be enough without going to News of the World style machinations that now put the Beeb at risk of a NOTW style outcome

Sunder is as usual correct, and it's a bit of a problem for Labour that Lammy isn't "a diversity hire". He's the best they have.
Dominic Cummings has this racialised take on David Lammy

There is an increasingly prevalent kneejerk online rightwing trait to call the presence of any black or Asian person a diversity hire
November 6, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Hiding from scrutiny, Reeves gave her Budget leak speech to journalists rather than Parliament, but the markets heard the message just the same
