I sometimes see the reputation of Lord of the Rings suffering quite a bit due to certain circles that like it, but core message is to reject very obvious evils, not for any reward, but because you are aware of what is right, and willing to act knowing it cannot be left to others to take care of.

the AI industry ruining personal computing is a very "Roman empire" kind of thing. Like the assumption was that tech will get better and cheaper and here I am planning to put hard drives in my old computer case with (used) SSD's from a few years ago. Like medieval market stalls in Trajan's palace

This is still ongoing and it is very funny
I had a real-life meme experience over lunch with friends the other day. One of us is a programmer and recommended Arch Linux because I was saying I don't want my next computer to be Windows.

I feel like even the least inspired designs from Idolmaster, Touhou or even Pokemon trainers beat out 99% of the anime-adjacent gacha game characters I sometimes see in my feeds. There is some mix of detail, complexity, function they've totally overshot. I guess some people who are wrong like them

my headcanon for animal crossing is that the villager is in an Alice in Wonderland style dream sequence with cute walking talking animal friends, furniture that fits in your pockets, money growing on trees, presents falling from the sky, and affordable housing you can pay for mostly in fish

Today's advice: There are almost no parallel lines in the body. When drawing arms, legs, hands, fingers, necks, etc., everything pinches, slopes, bends, arcs, flares, folds. You are not drawing pipes, you are drawing inside pipes.
Today's advice: Create unnecessary or arbitrary rules for yourself to enforce a pseudo-monastic discipline. For instance, every time you draw a certain character you must also draw a certain other character, or it is bad
Today's advice: eyes are spheres but they sit inside frames. So when drawing stylized eyes there is a mix of curved lines and pinched angles

I have enough backlog to post into March so I feel like it's time to start working on a big fancy illustration in between Animal Crossing sessions. Also the sooner I get my big fancy illustrations for the year done the sooner I can not have to feel like I need to outdo last year.
