Over 10 years in the making, my basho venue pamphlet collection is COMPLETE! They first came out in Jan 1971. The last one I needed was November 1987, Kyūshū basho. And I finally found it. Never thought the day would come. I’m tickled pinker than Ura.
Let’s delve into my collection with very first issue of the venue pamphlet - Jan 1971. Yoks at the time were Kitanofuji (loved man who died only recently), Tamanoumi (who died not too long after because of a delayed appendectomy), and Taihō (this basho was his last yūshō. (Read replies for more!)

In case there was ever any doubt - Aonishiki is now officially an ōzeki. Since the banzuke require two ōzeki to keep from teetering over its welcome 🤗 Possibly temporary cuz he’ll most, including Boss Hakkaku, surmise he’ll be yokozuna by next year. #hatsubasho2026

Day15
M3 Hiradoumi 4-10 (L)
M4 Ōshōma 3-11 (R)
Short but good! Hira does a good job keeping foes off his belt with his fast sumo. There is a mono’ii. See reply #kyushubasho2025

Day15
And here is our sumo’s first Ukrainian sumo champion receiving the Emperor’s Cup.
Aonishiki, Вітаємо!"

🏆🏆🏆

(Above is pronounced “vitayemo”, congratulations in Ukrainian of course!)

Can’t have a sweaty back while giving interviews and hefting cups 🤗 #kyushubasho2025

Yūshō interview
Interviewer said "we've been told you are officially being considered for ōzeki (a formality, He'll get it for sure)
It was mentioned he'd only been here 3 years and here Ao is, holding the cup.
Continues, see reply for more..

Day15 Playoff!
Yz Hōshōryū (L)
Sw Aonoshiki (R)
For all the marbles! Ao already soundly beat Hoss ystrdy, Hoss so far has just not been able to find a way to beat Ao in their few meetings. To top it off Hoss lost a playoff to Ōnosato last basho - all things that must really have stuck in his craw.
November 23, 2025 at 8:46 AM
Day15
Oz Kotozakura 8-6 (L)
Sw Aonishiki 11-3 (R)
Zakura looks to make it count! Due to Ōnosato dropping out, this is final regular bout of the basho. If Aonishiki keeps his poise and wins we get a playoff with Hoss; if Ao loses Hoss takes the yūshō with no contest on last day.. #kyushubasho2025

Day15
Km Takanoshō 5-9 (L)
Sw Ōhō 6-8 (R)
Just so no one asks where this bout is #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 8:23 AM
Day15
M5 Yoshinofuji 9-5 (L)
Km Takayasu 7-7 (R)
Yasu needs that KK and he’s in it even if Yoshonofuji might be our new giant killer! #kyushubasho2025

Day15
Here’s the ritual to mark Sanyaku Soroibumi, the last three matches - done one bout earlier than it would have been without Hoss (or Ōnosato) appearing since they don’t have a bout. So strange.. #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 8:16 AM
Day15
M11 Rōga 8-6 (L)
M1 Wakatakakage 6-8 (R)
These two have only faced off once - Natsu last year - WTK took the day #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 8:09 AM
Day15
M2 Kirishima 10-4 (L)
M3 Ura 8-6 (R)
Some more Pink Performance Magic from Ura. If Kiri wins he also gets the Kantō-shō #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 8:04 AM
Day15
M8 Ichiyamamoto 10-4 (L)
M2 Wakamotoharu 8-6 (R)
Funky bout. If Ichi wins he gets the Kanto-sho (Fighting Spirit Prize) #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:59 AM
Day15

M4 Tamawashi 6-8 (L)
M12 Fujinokawa 9-5 (R)
Fun bout! But.. have to say it, Washi is over twice Fujinokawa’s age. Washi joined sumo before Fujinokawa was born - and just as I write this, announcer just said this is the biggest age difference in a makuuchi bout in modern history!
November 23, 2025 at 7:46 AM
Day15
M6 Atamifuji 7-7 (L)
M13 Mitakeumi 7-7 (R)
Unsurprisingly (?) ho hum sumo but it is a KK make or break bout for both #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:35 AM
Day15
M7 Churanoumi 7-7 (L)
M14 Ryūden 7-7 (R)
KK make or break battle for both. #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:23 AM
Day15
M9 Midorifuji 6-8 (L)
M12 Tomokaze 6-8 (R)
I can’t remember if Tomokaze was a puller for his wins before he was away so long for injury, but he sure is now #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:12 AM
Day15
M15 Nishikifuji 8-6 (L)
M9 Tobizaru 6-8 (R)
I figured we’d have a bit more fireworks with these two #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:08 AM
Day15
M10 Daieishō 9-5 (L)
M14 Tokihayate 9-5 (R)
Daieishō’s sumo hasn’t looked much like his usual sumo this basho, but hey he’s gunning for double digits here so why not? Tokihayate has also had his best basho in a while #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 7:06 AM
Day15
J2 Kotoeihō 9-5 (L)
M17 Asakōryū 7-7 (R)
Good one! One should have had the advantage but winner turns the tables! Both these men have brothers that are in the same heya as them (Kotoshōhō and Asasuiryū respectively). Asakōryū is KK make or break here #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 6:55 AM
Day15 jonidan playoff
Jd12w Kakueizan (L)
Jd45w Ryūhō (R)
Quick but good stuff, and ends in a mono’ii just to keep us guessing. See reply. Both are from same heya/stable. Only in playoffs do stablemates face off in competition. They both started sumo within a basho. 🤗 #kyushubasho2025
November 23, 2025 at 6:37 AM
Day15
J7 Takerufuji 7-7 (L)
J2 Asahakuryū 10-4 (R)
Takefuji fights hard for that all important KK! Takeru had a shock yūshō in makuuchi and no luck (injuries) since then. Asahakuryū won the jūryō yūshō last time and is already double digits. We will be seeing more of him #kyushubasho2025
