Given preparation has been such a hot topic recently, it's probably worth asking why England women didn't play any ODIs in Asia between December 2019 and the start of the 2025 World Cup, and with a home T20 World Cup next year, they have no international fixtures on the schedule until May.

Suzie Bates ruled out of cricket for three months with a quadricep tear.
WHITE FERNS batter Suzie Bates has sustained a quadricep tear which has ruled her out of the home summer until March. Bates suffered the injury last month when fielding during a Hallyburton Johnstone Shield match. Subsequent scans revealed that due to the severity of the tear she will require three months of rehabilitation. The recovery timeline means Bates will be unavailable for Otago for the remainder of the domestic home summer and for the WHITE FERNS home series against Zimbabwe in February. Orla Prendergast will change her shirt number from 84 to 10 as a personal tribute to her deceased dad.
“I’ve made the decision to change my shirt number from 84 to 10 - my dad’s birthday. Since my dad passed last May, I’m always trying to think of ways to keep him close to me and having the number 10 on my shirt is another way of doing so. “My dad was always my biggest support in cricket - the first person I’d go to on my good days and my bad days. He constantly told me how proud he was of me, and I hope to continue making him proud with the number 10 on my back in memory of him. “I’m pretty superstitious, so it took a little bit of self-convincing to move on from number 84, but I’m really looking forward to touring South Africa in a few weeks time with number 10 on my shirt," Orla Prendergast about her decision to change the shirt number.

Rodrigues returned home to India after the Heat’s match against the Hobart Hurricanes 10 days ago as part of a pre-arranged commitment where she was to be involved in Indian teammate Smriti Mandhana’s wedding last weekend. However, the celebrations were subsequently postponed due to a health issue with Mandhana’s father. Rodrigues will stay in India to support her teammate, and the Heat has agreed to her not returning for the final four games of the WBBL season.
