My poetry book, Dear Diaspora, explores the intersections of girlhood and Vietnamese diaspora💚

It follows Suzi: ripping her leg hairs out with duct tape, praying for ecstasy during Sunday mass, dreaming up a language for buried familial trauma and discovering that such a language may not exist.

Did a class visit recently for Dear Diaspora and a student said my book opened up dialogue bw them and their family abt diaspora and immigration and as a writer, this feels like a blessing ✨

Today a student said my class was a ~haven for in-depth emotional and analytical conversations~. I had a pizza party for my editors. I picked these big leaves. The semester is (finally) almost over.
