Good morning to everyone who wonders why they didn't just use paint and plastic flex posts to protect this fire hydrant.
Two tall yellow steel and concrete bollards, protecting a red fire hydrant from motor vehicles.

🚨🚨Email Deadline: TODAY 5pm🚨🚨
If you can't make it to the Board meeting on Saturday (virtually or in-person) then TODAY at 5pm is the deadline to tell the Board to Make Cars Optional in Arlington via email. It takes 5 minutes. susmo.org/transporta...
Independence, Not Car-Dependence
In March you spoke up and demanded a more aspirational Vision and Goals for the future of Arlington's Transportation System.  Staff heard and responded with some much-improved language, making it clear that continuing the status quo would not be enough.  The Vision included making it possible for Arlingtonians to get around Arlington "without having to depend on a car" and that we wanted to "move more people with less traffic". This improved draft Vision is already under attack, with the Transportation Commission recommending that the "move more people with less traffic" language be changed to "move more people through multiple options" which says almost nothing of substance.  Even worse, the Planning Commission recommended removing the phrase "without having to depend on a car" from the Vision Statement! We have heard CLEARLY through this process that Arlingtonians want to be able to get around without a car.  That they want INDEPENDENCE, not CAR DEPENDENCE.  Tell the County Board to reject these recommendations and share our vision for a future where getting around by car is a CHOICE, not a REQUIREMENT.

⏰⏰This Saturday, the Board will vote to endorse a Vision and Goals for the next 30 years of transportation in Arlington!⏰⏰
Will it be a vision of independence and freedom?
Or the status quo of car-dependence fueled by infrequent transit, and blocked sidewalks?
SPEAK UP!

Good morning to all of the streetlights that failed to #BeSafeBeSeen and the people whose job is to replace them.
A traffic cone over the base of a streetlight that a driver crashed into and now it's gone. Photo taken from an asphalt sidewalk next to a high-speed four-lane divided road. The streetlight was in the thin buffer area between the road and the sidewalk.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us on Bike to Work Day! It was fun, biking is great, but our ride home from the pitstops today contained several reminders that Arlington can, and must, do better.
