far left: Maxwell, an underground organized crime syndicate boss - stern, cold and distant - her chin up and solid
far right: Gjera, a former CIA agent, tasked with the latter's capture, and, eventually, execution - they chose to run and destroy their identity to start a new life overseas.
...And in the middle is their daughter, Naomi Serendipity Neumann, the existence of which which Maxwell used to be completely oblivious to, until a terrific discovery after 10 long, hateful years.

the images are framed by a carousel of galloping horses, as well as their symbolic keepsakes:

Poland, XVI century
Maxwell, disguised as a man, took a new name - Samson - to serve among the town's kohens during the day, and join the ranks of vampire hunters at night
Roger, a member of the same town's aristocracy, a Ventrue elder, is madly in love with her

Unfortunately, despite those feelings being mutual, Maxwell chooses her oaths over a promise of a happy life together, breaking Roger's heart and driving them insane, and in a fit of inhuman grief caused by this wound, they turn against her.

They end up becoming mortal enemies, though unable to put an end to each other's lives no matter how passionately they swore to do so
