First cat I've had in 20 years. Never thought I could bring myself to have another after my ex killed Mabd. Then this lil shit comes along. And he has everyone wrapped around his paw. Even Nero. lol.

He is. Followed my daughter home from work about a month ago after someone drove into the neighborhood and threw him out the car window and drove off. Roughly 7 months old atm. And a massive cuddler. When pain gets bad or heart going wonky he stays on my chest like that snuggling me

Never apologize when self care if needed. Most of us deal with it too and all in diff ways. We understand and know self care is the number one way to handle things. Make sure you take care of yourself first and foremost or Mama Syren gonna come burrito wrap you in blankets back into bed. lol

Remind yourself: acknowledging a behavior as a trauma response isn't an "excuse" or "cop out." It's calling it what it is, so we can realistically change it-- while honoring the wound it's trying to protect.

Trauma survivorship is never, ever about "excuses."
