Not to mention the project paying for itself by having TOD on top!

If SANDAG had any foresight, they’d buy (part of) the Costa verde mall site asap. It’s their only way to build the UTC Coaster/Purple line station cut and cover instead of SEM tunneling. Cut and cover (probably) saves hundreds of millions, is faster, and ultimately leads to better station designs.

They have Apple Pay, pretty sure google too

MTS staff are proposing a 2028 ballot measure rather than 2026 to allow for more time according to the 9/4 exec committee agenda. They will delay the fiscal cliff by shifting more capex funds to ops, raising fares, and other operational savings

At one point I had found a diagram where there will be an off street path around/under the ramp

There’s an interesting exhibit of old maps of San Diego in Geisel library at ucsd, it goes away this week if you’re interested! Downtown feels so much more connected to the city before freeways divided it

Looks like those were done by the developer as part of those new apartments

Cool to see the redevelopment, slight bummer that the direct connection to the executive dr trolley station will likely go away. The University community plan talks about extending the platform into a public plaza area, we’ll see what happens with that

Unexpected news: a short stretch of Mira Mesa Blvd next to a new development has a protected bike lane and protected half intersection

Hmm sandag’s 2025 regional plan near term actions include studying a “VMT mitigation bank” wonder what that is

It’s hidden in a report somewhere, but they made some design changes so that the crest canyon alignment (and maybe Camino Del Mar idr) in the EIR will be studied at 110 mph

The (new?) trolleys have some nice digital displays, but they only say “thank you for riding with us” at the moment

All the parking is supposed to be eventually removed for bike lanes

Take my hand as I guide you through San Diego's new (draft) Street Design Manual and what it does — or doesn't do — to build a safer, more sustainable and more livable city.

Been working on this one for a while, hope you enjoy! www.kpbs.org/news/public-...
What's in — and what's missing from — San Diego's new 'Street Design Manual'
The city's design standards on everything from crosswalks to medians to bike lanes haven't been overhauled in more than 20 years.
