Bluesky isn't always this good at detecting AI slop, but wow.

I like ya, Holler, but don't fall into AI slop nonsense. Leave that to centrist boomers who use it now instead of Minion memes.

If I recall correctly, they get away lying like this by labeling their "news" as entertainment, thus getting the same protections as The Daily Show or other political comedy shows.

It's obviously a loophole, though, as it's clear they're not advertising as parody, even if comedy is subjective.

They really do look like a toddler who got into a sticker set.

I uh... just thought she was a little quirky, lol.

Oh shit, THATS why that one student of mine has star stickers on her face.

This diatribe reminded me of a thought I had: if there WAS a God and we simply couldn't recognize and channel it somehow, we'd be like characters is an RPG without and MP or magic in a world full of it.

And the nerd I am, of course I wish there was fucking magic. There ain't, but it'd be sweet.

One of the few jobs I regret not landing was up in Portland because these are 100% my kind of people. But LA is nice, too (we had dancing, just no inflatable costumes!)
taiyangtamago.bsky.social
Yeah I saw that in the article too and somehow just avoid hearing it (I think I've heard the song in a commercial or something). Where I live I think it's not as ubiquitous as Mariah Carey during Christmas season.

Hell, where I literally live they play mariachi next door on the 4th. It's LA, lol.

The suggestion is Greenwood, which apparently is some old country singer I don't know about. I was hoping it actually was stranger than Creed, like "we will sing hymns and pray" or something crazy like that.

Once again Alt Text with an extra joke, lol.

To be fair, The Free Press was already kind of an ironic name.

Wow, those bystanders very much are not demonstrating the so-called bystander effect by being such badasses.

I'm absolutely shocked it didn't get violent-- I mean, ICE did, but everyone else showed such crazy good restraint.

(and to be clear, I've no dog in this fight on pedantry, I just don't think it's a good argument to say you once taught something in 'the good ol' days of academia).

Yes, and old definitions sometimes change even if it was taught as fact at the time.

I'm not in the same field of study, but to give you an analogy from my program, 1994's The Bell Curve used debunked and racist views on genetics and IQ. Yet, the book was STILL on the bookshelves of my advisors.

Oh, yes, the war on terrorism joins all the best wars... As we all know, the war on poverty ended poverty and the war on drugs ended all drugs, and the government has always used these concepts in good faith.

Glad we got LA off the list early, I guess? Except I'm sure there can always be a sequel.

Spoilers for you all: the guard itself isn't the worst part. They mostly just stand there because the pretense has been a lie anyway. But ICE, which is already around, they're thugs that kidnap people.

Her party is losing a lot, and for good reason. Their economic policies are a big reason the Japanese yen is falling so dramatically after COVID and the inflation crisis afterwards. She herself is a firm believer in what they called "Abenomics."

But their whole Diet is pretty crummy, so meh.
taiyangtamago.bsky.social
Oh, the democratic majority in Congress passed universal healthcare and President Harris is set to sign it this morning.
taiyangtamago.bsky.social
Yes, except there is a correlation. The problem is that correlation isn't causation and the actual coverage from NPR made that clear, even having the author of one of those studies interviewed who said at much.

People take meds for fevers. Fevers lead to complications. Literally what that was about

It just reminds me that I dress like a Portlander. I must have Portlandian roots.

Ray tracing is a costly solution to a problem we mostly solved with clever graphics tricks. That said, it's actually kinda neat when applied to older stuff, like the old Quake games, but I don't think it adds enough to console games.

I mostly play on PC, though.

You don't know my relationship with my hairdresser!

Dumb and alarmingly dumb. Yeah.

Hearing voices (of God) is more a schizophrenia symptom, but I suppose it could be comorbid.

Worth mentioning, there are still valid ways to study the effects of vaccines without a double blind RCT study... but I think we (or at least, internationally) have even done that.

Not that it even matters once it's administered to a large population, you can see the effects in real time now.
