I'm running for U.S. Senate to lay a foundation for the next generation of Michiganders, one strong enough to protect the promise Michigan holds for every family. Let's get to work.

It takes teamwork to tackle hunger. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers at Make Food Not Waste for providing access to thousands of fresh and healthy meals for our most vulnerable residents!
For nearly 95 years, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel has connected Downtown Detroit and Downtown Windsor, strengthening our lasting partnership with Ontario, Canada. I was honored to introduce House Resolution 197 to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel!
This year, disabled women are facing massive cuts to employment programs and services and even our ability to track those cuts is being blocked. When data disappears, so do stories. That’s why #DisabledWomensEqualPayDay matters more than ever.
It was great to be back in East Lansing sharing my MSU experience on the Black and Broad alumni panel.
Join me tomorrow! Monday, October 13th at the McDonald's located at 8825 E. Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48214 for Coffee and Conversation.
Just 6 days remain before a potential government shutdown. If we cannot reach a deal before September 30th, everyday services could face major interruptions. From State Parks to health programs and the workers involved going unpaid. Time is running out.
Thank you to the leaders of HUDA for the tour of their clinic. HUDA is one of Michigan's most active free clinics, providing health care for families across Metro Detroit
On this day, we remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the bravery of all first responders who ran toward danger. Today, we also thank our local firefighters, EMTs and police officers who continue that legacy of service and sacrifice here at home.
Labor Day reminds us that progress didn’t just happen — it was fought for. From fair hours to child labor laws, unions and workers demanded justice. We owe it to them to keep pushing forward.
Last Friday, I was honored to attend the Detroit PAL Recreation Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. It is great to see Detroit PAL open its first permanent headquarters in nearly 60 years in Southwest Detroit. Keep up the fantastic work!
105 years ago, the 19th Amendment moved us closer to dignity, fairness & equality. We honor the women who fought for suffrage & recommit to protecting rights under attack today. The work isn’t finished. #WomensEqualityDay
Michiganders are working harder than ever just to get by. They need leaders who will stand up for them — not slash their benefits. I am committed to passing a fair, balanced budget on time.
Yesterday, we honored the life and service of former State Representative Ed Vaughn with a memorial resolution yesterday. Their contributions to Michigan continue to inspire us as we carry forward the vision of public service.
Without a final education budget passed, schools across Michigan are operating in the dark, which means that vital support like school meals will be cut. House Democrats will always fight to support our schools, uplift our educators and help kids thrive.
The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is the only underwater international border crossing in the world for automobile traffic. It was great receiving a tour of this indispensable North American asset.
It's Election Day in Detroit!
1 in 7 children in Michigan are food insecure, and that number is rising. My new legislation would reinstate a tax credit for donations to shelters & food banks for additional resources to those who serve the food insecure. Read more here: housedems.com/tate-introdu...
Tate Introduces Policy to Reinstate Tax Credit for Donations to Homeless Shelters, Food Banks
State Rep. Joe Tate recently introduced a bill that would amend the income tax act to allow taxpayers to claim credit for certain donations.

Happy 324th, Detroit! From Motown to muscle cars, Coney dogs to comeback stories — this city has shaped history and culture for generations. Let’s keep building the future.
What a day to be a celebrity scooper! 🍦 Big shoutout to Michigan’s own Moose Tracks for dishing out 10,000 scoops to raise $10K for the Salvation Army. All for a great cause, right in the heart of summer. Proud to be part of it!
Fantastic time at the Genesee County BBQ and Rep. Amos O'Neal's annual BBQ in Saginaw. One of my favorite parts about campaign stops during the summer (besides the nice weather) is having a conversation with friends about my run for U.S. Senate over some BBQ.
Michigan Central Station is not only a historic and culturally significant area in Detroit, it is also a hub fostering new ideas and technologies. Take a tour of Michigan Central this summer if you can.
Being a college athlete teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience. My bill, HB 4643, honors that by making sure student-athletes can benefit from their own name, image, and likeness without restrictions. This is a step towards fairness in college athletics.
At both the Federal and State level, Republicans are taking away SNAP Benefits and Free School Lunch and Breakfast. Families in need will have less of an opportunity to put food on the table. This is not right.
