Was helping a client today with a 500 million row dataset. It took about 42 GB as a CSV & 7 GB as a parquet file. We needed a count of rows per ID. We tried Arrow but gave up after staring at the console for a few minutes. Switched to @duckdb.org & got an answer in less than a second.

You can see in the beginning of June when I took a different approach to my MLB bets! Line shopping, EV+ calculations, kelly criterion, poisson distribution, and created my own score for pitchers/batters over/under Ks, hits, ER, bases, etc. #datascience #sabermetrics

Of course there are two pitchers named Luis Castillo on the Seattle Mariners... def doesn't mess up my analysis at all because I'm definitely not joining on names & teams (don't have bbrefid in the other data set).

Turns out if you know what you're doing, you can build a fully functional RPG dungeon crawler game using chatGPT, R and Shiny in a few hours. In addition to code help, I'm even using chatGPT to generate funny Boss names and Abilities. #rstats #chatgpt #IsThisVibeCoding
