Something I've noticed: strong developers can blend into code bases.

Meaning, the code they contribute matches the style & opinions of the code base. They know how to lean into the strengths of each pattern, and aren't dogmatic about one over the other.

That sounds like a not fun experience.

I find myself kinda wishing conferences would hold a pre-conference get together for women/trans/NB folks to meet and find a buddy before it starts. Like a little tea and cookies meet-and-greet before the opening night reception. Just so you have _someone_

Tighten onsite + Laracon was such a fun whirlwind! I had a blast chatting with old and new friends, and once again didn’t get enough photos with people (though I have more than last year)

Myself and Mary Perry both smiling for the camera, I’m wearing a blue button down shirt with lemons, my hair is currently silver, blue, and pink and is spiked up in front. Mary is wearing a black tshirt with a gray zip up hoodie, has her hair up in a ponytail under a black PHPxNYC baseball hat.

The Tighten team at a Game Show Battle Room, half of the team have sailor hats and the other half have rainbow cowboy hats.
