Just finished James, Percival Everett’s 2024 Pulitzer Prize winning novel, a kind of re-telling of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s perspective, a slave on the run looking to find a way to save and reunite with his wife and daughter, also slaves. EXCELLENT, the last 15 pages were everything!

A speaker at this farewell ceremony of this exhibit introduced me to a new word: upstander. People who resisted nazis and helped hide Jewish people and others during WWII were upstanders. An upstander is basically the opposite of bystander, we must all find ways to upstand to the horrors in America.

Be kind to this local artist! Actually, I did this yesterday, I haven’t done any art in a reallllllly long time, it felt good doing this. The idea of doing this as a ceiling piece was inspired by Lisa Dittrich, who did this on her ceiling at Sin City Comics back in the 1990s!
