disphing has a really cool creative direction with their work and it was neat to do some data visualization! i majored in math lol this is fun for me :)

this includes screen recordings from chaoscope, a program that renders strange attractors (a chaos theory thing). the purple diagrams are aerodynamics diagrams

this one is inspired by the direct cosine transform, a step in jpeg compression. the 8x8 grid of pixels on the left is a composition of the 64 cosine grids in the middle, at the intensities of the orange numbers. although i think i made some mistakes with that

this is using screen recordings of visual truetype, a program for designing type hinting, which a system for optimizing text legibility at small sizes.

the gray color picker moving through the composition is motivating almost everything else: that color is in rgb, hexcode, graph of U & V values in YUV, hue rotation, etc
