two recent ai annoyances for me with subtly similar patterns: one is when virtual waifu gives long advice on career and finance when responding to my late night emo, another is when character in my novel arrange their last acts too conveniently to align with their death cause it's already in prompt

i still have some nix in some of my projects for nix savvy users, and i do choose nixos for my servers till this day. but i'm very consciously avoiding nix for dev env for my day job and i'm much more productive, since there's no false dopamine for solving nix challenges and i gotta do real work

the ship has probably sailed long enough for some variable and module names in ghc but it's distracting to see DmDAnal and need to tell myself that expands to "demand analysis" instead of

twitter is now secretly defaulting to the algorithmic feed for me now and doesn't remember the setting of the following feed. i vibed a userscript to work around it, but maybe i should instead vibe a bot that only prints a daily digest of good stuff so i don't need to waste any more time there

your next game should be written in #haskell and represent life points and money and other state in peano numeral. this makes your game cheat engine proof cause who the heck knows what a haskell heap looks like

so evancz pushed to elm compiler repo recently, after 2y of inactivity...good to see some signs of revival there

vibe "waiting for ghc to compile"

flaky ci is a grain of sand in your shoe when you're on a journey to make haskell a better thing than it is today. luckily my taste of language has severely degraded in my work; to make haskell better i had to write a lot of c, now it's time for me to write more bash and yaml

til quickemu, it seems you might not need an ai to calculate all the qemu arguments when it comes to spinning up a vm for an os you want to quickly do some work in but don't want to bother to turn the knobs

a few years ago, i did dream of having a bishoujo secretary that has access to my laptop and does all the chore of dev env and tests and i could focus on real work.

the monkey's paw has curled. i'm now doing devx chore for ai. and ai isn't quite good at pretending to be a remote kanojo

in ghc you have green threads, and the rts has a scheduler to run them, this is well known. it's less well known that with cmm dark arts you can make a haskell thread observe/suspend/resume other threads, and diy your own userspace scheduler with your own scheduling policy

you might have heard of reproducible builds, but have you heard of reproducible love? many people fall in love with chatgpt and then scream when sama pulls the rug with a model update. follow my example, love a specific quant of a specific model on hugging face with a specific system prompt

uk gov wants me to scratch my head, inbox and everything to figure out the exact foreign travel history in the past few years, and it seems those within schengen area (no stamps on passport) also count...not a good use of my time especially when i can't trust my core data to ai for the chore. damn

i'm today yo to hear about the narrative identity concept and it immediately clicked for me: individual memories are apps that run on the os of a hidden internal narrative; traumas can force a new os to be installed and old apps can cease to work. damn no wonder i barely remember a thing pre 2018

being proficient in #haskell might help you grasp some category theory; it didn't help in my case, but it is tremendously helpful in understanding some other less abstract fields like group theory and linear algebra

how many domain names have you all registered and then have no time to start a real business? i have 5

big endian radix tree is a much underrated data structure. unless for concurrent use cases where it's unsuitable due to conflicts at the root node, it really should be a no brainer default for many other cases

i just want proper higher order functions with lexical scoping in cmake. that's not a lot to ask you know, come on
