I think the fundamental difference between kh and stranger things in regards to whether soriku will get destroyed the way byler did is that ST explicitly asked the question “can love defeat fear (and save the day)” and said “No.” While kh has been asking that question for 20 years and saying Yes.

That side of the fanbase has nothing to do with it in the first place. People got hate-bombed simply by being associated with someone associated with the perpetrator of the case. That last association is barely knowing them and deciding to monitor them from afar because they had a mutual friend. 1/2
