“Frontier” is inspired by the bravery of those who seek a better life for themselves. Released on National Immigrants Day, this music video is dedicated to the refugees, explorers, and pilgrims who have made epic journeys for their dreams. National Immigrants Day was established on October 28, 1987 by none other than President Ronald Reagan to honor the contributions and achievements of immigrants in shaping culture and society. Do I seem that strange? Wondering if I’ll ever see the other side The birds are singing to me every single day Why don’t they all want me to stay? Their words are a mystery to me But I can read their eyes If I cross the line, will they come for me? Over there, it’s beautiful – and it’s beckoning to me But if I get through, will I be free? At the crossroads of our lives It’s getting hard to survive And another part of me has died We’ll find another way To face another day Crying over time that’s slipping by A frontier away We’ll be swimming to our dream A frontier away Water’s deeper than it seems I’ve given my life for this moment A frontier away My eyes are watching, waiting But can I truly see? Did another soul just smile back at me? Am I accepted as I’ve turned out to be? Have I come closer through the sea? At the crossroads of our lives It’s getting hard to survive And another part of me has died We’ll find another way To face another day Grieving over time that’s slipping by A frontier away We’ll be swimming to our dream A frontier away It’s wider than it seems I’ve given my life for this moment But swimming in quicksand I reach out for your hand We fall back again And start over We’ll start over again Just around the bend Keeping every thought until the end It’s not far away We’re getting closer every day Nearing our destination Stopping our frustration – yeah Water’s deeper than it seems I’ve given my life for this moment But swimming in quicksand I reach out for your hand We fall back again And start over

For all you squirrel lovers out there, we’re celebrating World Animal Day 🐿️ Once upon a time, an injured squirrel fell out of a tree. Rescued by her human neighbors, she was fed and serenaded with music and the buzz of Formula 1. After being transported to a Malibu rehab facility, she was able to roam free with other squirrels like her and was eventually nursed back to health – living happily ever after ☀️ “Outerworld” – based on a poem written by @atmanrising – tells the story from the squirrel's point of view. Song recorded on piano and voice for the SHELTER collection 🎹 Music © 2020 Jeannie Novak Lyrics © 2020 Luis Levy Recording ℗ 2021 Jeannie Novak Engineered by Sejo Navajas at 4th Street Recording Studio (Santa Monica, CA) Preliminary mix by Bobby Vickery Acoustic remix by Matt Bishop // OUTERWORLD © 2020 Luis Levy Out of the darkness, into the light Can’t find my way out, can’t think or fight Noises and smells, danger abounds Help me, I’m alone, I’ve lost my home No way to leave this place But there’s food to eat What is this strange, weird sound That makes me sleep I’m shaken yet warm With waves of sound, eerily calm I wait as time runs out, away from waking eyes I’m feeling stronger now, my fear slowly dies You let me out, into the air There are others like me, no longer scared Now I can leave this place I have strength to feed That strange and soothing sound Helped me to sleep I was shaken yet warm With waves of sound, eerily calm There’s sun and wind And others like me I sleep without fear You set me free

Jeannie Novak - "Caprice" (Official Music Video) | piano improv from SYNCH
Celebrating the end of summer and kicking off piano month with footage from 1940’s Coney Island paired with a piano improv soundtrack… CAPRICE (music): Original solo piano improvisation performed live at Bakery Sound + Vision and engineered by Stacy Carson. This was my "cool-down" piece during the session; it almost didn't become part of this project -- but this Coney Island footage revealing unexpected dark underpinnings seemed perfect for it. CONEY ISLAND - 1940 - Castle Films (footage): This film primarily focuses on Coney Island's great amusement park in its heyday – beginning with an aerial view of the beach and then focuses in on throngs of people lying on the sand and strolling along the boardwalk. Soon afterward, the film transitions to a carnival sideshow barker, and eventually to a series of rides – many of which would be considered dangerous by today's standards. Original footage available at Prelinger Archives: http://archive.org/details/ConeyIsl1940 SYNCH (project): Collection of nine solo piano improvisations synched to public domain footage. Although the music was recorded long before I curated the footage, both are inseparable to me now :) Music composed and performed by Jeannie Novak. ℗ © 2001 Jeannie Novak #jeannienovak #summer #coneyisland #piano #beach #rollercoaster #acoustic #indie #keyboard #musician #music #musicvideo
