I hate when i watch a perfectly respectful, civil conversation between two people who are probably friends but have differing views, but then when I see all the commentary on that conversation it's framed as one of the people getting "exposed" or "destroyed"

which is to say, a few thousand people unsubscribing from a service at the same time is very likely to lead to some kind of action from the company in question - probably much quicker than a few thousand people boycotting a single product.

subscription services are loved by companies bc they result in customers spending way more over time than they would otherwise. But this also means if they lose a sub, its a way bigger deal than simply losing a sale. thats why your phone/internet company will fight to keep even a single customer.
