Poor Bluesky, you don't seem to grasp the idea that someone doesn't want to see film, music, politics or cats in their feed. I've selected my interests. Show me those.

When one needs a quick spin and only has random blends. . . . Time for art yarn.

Note to self. Time is not running out. Your perception of time is skewed. Your fomo of wanting to knit, crochet, spin and make 1000 things is messing with your brain. Slow down.

This is one of the 50g braids of handdyed fibre I bought a while ago for a quick spin. This one is a very skinny single.

The same photo could appear on three different pages and require different alt text for each instance. The alt text for an image can vary, depending on the context of the image, its role on the page, and the intended message.

When I really need to start a bew project to get me interested in ones I already have on the go....but I don't have the brainpower to try a new pattern, I make something I've made before (a long time ago so it feels new)

When writing alt text, focus on what's truly important. In an image with text about a canceled event, the borders of the image are not nearly as vital as conveying that this event is now canceled. A decorative border can be mentioned, but it's not the most important element; the cancellation is.

How many times do i have to tell Bluesky that I don't want to see certain types of post? Does the "show less of this" option actually work?

If your organization has Slack, Teams, or any other messaging program, you should have a dedicated accessibility chat. This would be a great way for everyone on your team to learn together by sharing links, posing questions, and reviewing alt text, among other things.

Sometimes I buy a cheaper braid of handdyed fibre because I want to make a blend. I bought this from Millhouse Designs on etsy. I split the braid into its separate colours. One blend used the purples and greys, the other the pinks.

You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.

September gales are here. Early. Happily that means I can start wearing more than one scarf at a time. (Many hand knitted ones to show off)

Whenever I feel I'm running out of fibre to spin...(have to buy more but don't have the budget). I make a couple of batts.

I bought a braid with a wide variety of colours specifically to make art yarn. The braid is merino from a Cornish dyer called Penberth Yarns.

Did you know each emoji has a coded description that gets read aloud by screen readers? This demo by Alexa Heinrich shows what happens when a screen reader encounters a post that uses an emoji to function as a bullet point.

Cognitive load refers to how much working memory or short-term memory someone is using at a time. Minimizing the cognitive load it takes to use your site makes it more accessible for people with cognitive disabilities. Limit what you're asking users to remember to use your site.
