I feel for the people who've been misled into voting for them, because it is in RUKs interest to make the regions they govern worse before the next election, to whip up rage so they can chase a bigger slice of power. You've ensured years of a council obstructing everything worth doing in your area.

They went into Lincolnshire crowing about how they were going to eliminate DEI - only to find there wasn't fucking any.

They screamed about how they were going to do some DOGE-adjacent shit to cut the budget of the councils, only to realise that Eric Pickles decimated those budgets 10 years ago.

Reform UK are honestly such a joke party- they deserve not even a 10th of the coverage they get from the press, but have been whipped into legitimacy from years of Tory fear, & idiot journalists lustfully chasing the next bat-shit thing they say, all whilst being unable to ask a leading question.

A reminder that a high ranking member of Reform UK was recently charged for accepting bribes for raising Russian talking points whilst they were in the EU parliament.

Authoritarians benefit from instability and fear (hence, authority) - it is rarely in their interest to improve your lives.

It isn't helped by both the political and journalistic ranks being filled with unqualified ingrates who woefully unequipped for the responsibility they hold - & their insistence on remaining lazy and legitimising a lot of these points, but they are still generally manufactured - here at least.

It doesn't make me feel better about certain trajectories these days - but it does help keep me sane/grounded to remind myself that a lot of antagonising narratives/people are artificially generated/funded by bad actors, especially from countries who would benefit from Western Instability.
