"The goal is that you are a guide, not the book itself." Great insight!

@cyan.com Creator of my favorite games Myst and Riven that got me into gaming as a kid. I love seeing them support other game developers as well like @blueprincegame.bsky.social, @croteam.com and Defy Reality Entertainment (creator of Neyyah, unfortunately not on Bluesky)

It's like when someone asks "How far is it from Point A to Point B?" and we respond "About 30 minutes." That's time, not the distance you asked for!

The bottom would be a Riven linking book (from Myst III or IV perhaps?) The top I think is the red trap book to Spire.

The first Journeyman Project I played was Legacy of Time because of the ad with the original 5-CD Riven. Such a good series.

Any chance y'all will also be at PAX Unplugged in November?

Rime is absolutely gorgeous. I could sit and watch the aurora and listen to the music all day. And the new journals were so well written.

I love it when y'all post such creative viewpoints :) 💙

Obligatory rec for Myst and Riven but don't sleep on Obduction, which is extremely cool.

Reminds me of the Kadish gallery in MOULa and Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

This scene has always stuck with me ever since I first read Book of D'ni. Easily the first thing that comes to mind whenever this book is mentioned.

Some incredible engineering on the part of the D'ni!

A parchment-style promotional image featuring an excerpt from Myst: The Book of D’ni. At the top, the word “MYST” and the subtitle “The Book of D’ni” appear in a crisp white serif font against a torn, weathered slate-blue header. The passage is printed on aged paper with a subtle sketch of stone architecture and shadowy columns behind the text, giving the impression of an ancient underground chamber.

The transcript reads:

"The suit seemed to shimmer in the air,
then it was gone.

Inside the cell there was a nervous exchange of looks. Only Atrus stared straight ahead at the now empty cage.

One beat, two beats, and it was back.

The heat exploded into the room, as if someone had opened a furnace door. With a fierce crackling the whole suit seemed to convulse as it dropped the temperature gradient, the air about it steaming as the automatic extinguisher flooded the chamber with an enormous hiss.

There was a great groan from every side. Immediately, Carrad and Irras rushed to the chamber, wishing to help as the heavy layer of retardant boiled on the surface of the suit. They moved to step through the cage to help him, but Atrus called them back."
