This is a deeply frustrating read framed around the testimony of the father of the US child that died of measles at a MAHA conference.

On Friday, the WHO will announce the total number of children that died of measles last year. A number I calculate for them every year.

Thinking of all the right wing corporate university presidents and board members who "didn't know" they voted to cut federal funding for the professional degree programs that are a major source of income at their institutions.

If you find a mess in the kitchen and your 5-year old says "the dog did it", but you don't have a dog, how do you prove that they're wrong? Maybe there is a really tiny dog. Maybe a dog comes over when you're not at home. Maybe an invisible dog.

RFK Jr. is that 5-year old.

Lucy’s not complaining about the extra time for walkies, but she’s a little incredulous that 1” of snow resulted in a university delayed start.

For the thousands of cases of faculty misogyny & abuse of students, there is one case that went on to spend decades together in a "happy and healthy relationship". It will never not shock me how many of my colleagues will contort themselves to use that rare outcome to defend loathsome behavior.

Excellent to see success and leadership in the AFRO region. For too long the refrain has been for AFRO to recapitulate the "PAHO Strategy" for elimination. PAHO's success was tremendous, but is now decades old and the world and tactics have changed. These counties can lead the charge for AFRO.

"What does it really mean to lose 'measles elimination status?'"

I can't count how many times I've answered that question from journalists over the last year. The horrible, sobering answer is, for many, the same as it is for

"What does it really mean to lose your democracy?"

It is naive and reductionist to reduce the complexity of decisions that affect hundreds of millions of American livelihoods, and indirectly those of billions around the world, to a single quip or reaction gif.

But also, the end of the Godfather kind of sums this moment up.

Trump's entire legal philosophy is predicated on taking advantage of those weaker than him, challenging them to sue, then outlasting them until they can't afford to continue. It's simple. It is transparent. It is apparently something the Democratic Caucus has consistently failed to learn.
