RED GRAPES ON CYAN is an amazing seven feet by eleven feet, epic in scale for most painters to undertake although comparatively on the small side for Craig when contrasted with his work at the Grand.
An extra large blank canvas awaits in an artist's studio. Pride flag in the window. RED GRAPES is seen mounted in a gallery setting. RED GRAPES is seen from above, aerial view, in the studio. Craig takes a selfie in front of RED GRAPES in his studio.

For the past TWENTY SEASONS, Craig has brought scenes to life on the Grand Theatre’s stages as Senior Scenic Artist. From painting backdrops at a colossal scale, to perfecting the minute details so that the make-believe on stage feels intensely real and holds up to the closest scrutiny.

Deerchild’s first play, THE SECRET TO GOOD TEA, ran at the Grand Theatre earlier this year and, while fictional, draws deeply on conversations with her mother that inspired calling down the sky.
thegrandlondon.bsky.social
calling down the sky is Rosanna Deerchild’s second book of poetry, sharing “her mother’s experience in residential school, the long-term impacts of that trauma, and both women’s resiliency.” - @prairiefiremag.bsky.social
