Woke this morning staring into a beautifully framed, gorgeously shaped but ultimately useless mirror, which hadn't stood the test of time - although its drawers still clearly held their own mischievous little secrets.
And here was me gazing into it - just as 18th c beauties had gazed at themselves.

Klimt's 'Portrait of Elisabeth Lederer' sold for $236.4m - but I think it's fake.
Klimt preferred square canvases. He forced us to confront his paintings. He used a grid though which he could compose – rhythmical grouping, parallelism and beautiful symmetry.

Gary “Mani” Mounfield, best known as a founding member and bassist of the Stone Roses, has died aged 63. The cause of death has not been shared.
His brother Greg Mounfield posted the news on Facebook: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother.” His nephew also shared the news. Continue reading...
