🏃‍♂️⏪ 🏃‍♀️ 𝐀𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐫

It's been over a year now since I was invited to present my 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 metric to a small group of people at a SkillCorner event in Dallas, TX.

I've finally put some effort into writing a blog on it!

🔬 An Intuitive Measure for Pressing
For a long time I’ve had the aim to develop an intuitive measure for pressing that can be used by coaches, assistants and (data) analysts to identify and analyze pressing situations, compute advanced ...

Gives me Rooney vibes when watching him play, not as good (obviously), but a pure street footballer.

Enzo has done a terrific job in enabling him to play to his strengths.
Pretty impressive (unique?) how Cole Palmer can be so influential for Chelsea from so many different areas of the pitch in different matches. From @zonal-marking.bsky.social

People who scout/analyse... if you don't have Wyscout (which I presume is most), where do you find matches or clips of obscure players and leagues?

Wyscouts free trial was a lifesaver back in the day.

In 2012, Barcelona held a coaching seminar in Florida.

It entailed the Barcelona methodology, periodization and many other gems.

It was released in a 2 part PDF, here is the entirety of day 1.

Will release day 2 if people are interested.

A percentage of TV deals should be set aside and distributed equally to each county FA.

There's also a massive market for French and Italian football. It just needs better marketing and presentation.
Premier League continuing to fly away from the competition. TV and commercial agreements for the three year cycle 25/26-27/28 up 17 percent to £12.25bn. Time when European leagues like Italy and France in trouble

There we go!

Quality Quality piece of work, visually appealing images.

GIFs backing up the words & player by player analysis.

I appreciate it, but if I see a wall of text, I'm immediately closing.

A healthy mixture of image, video, and text is key in retention now.

This is so good, I love it.

When looking at data analysis and visualisation, I always think, "How could I show this to a player and improve them?"

This visualisation is brilliant in that regard, you may think that faster is better...

New platforms and audiences produce creativity.

I remember Ravi creating Expected Pass Value, & Ted with his radars, which evolved the visualisation game.

With new audiences people tend to be more creative, and I hope that's the case here. Football analysis needs something new, in my opinion.

Since joining here, I have been posting some of the best goals, assists, and general play I've recently come across.

Instead of posting every one individually, I'm going to reply to this post so they're organised and more accessible.

Great GK assist by Jasper Schendelaar of PEC Zwolle, solid composure here by Dylan Mbayo, also.

Nothing compared to others' work, I plotted shotmaps, player passmaps, etc.

Then, created a series of YouTube videos titled " Scouting Mission" where I would combine the data with footage.

Nice finish by Matheus Saldanha, but the build-up and assist by 20 year old Zsombor Gruber is ridiculous.

Always a soft spot for Hungarian football and specifically Ferencvaros.

This is magic from 20 year old Mario Stroeykens of Anderlecht, weaker foot an all.
