The intention was to show that rural churches could revive the ancient tradition of decoration. The artists used local people for their models. Mr Humphrey was used for Christ in Glory. A restoration was carried out in 2020 #littleadventures25 Berwick Church

Our last planned visit was to the Berwick Church famed for its connections with Bloomsbury artists Duncan Grant, Vanessa and Quentin Bell who had been commissioned by Revd George Bell in 1941. Their work is astounding. Do enlarge to see details #littleadventures25

Our next stop was an entry in ‘Forgotten Churches’ Luke Sherlock. St Peter’s round tower makes it VERY unusual as there are only 180 in England most in East Anglia #littleadventures25 St Peter’s Southease

So we are off on a #littleadventures25 for football. Staying overnight in Tenterden, Kent for a home game in Gillingham on Saturday. Also have a couple of #forgottenchurches to visit so a busy time. First though COFFEE!
