it's implemented differently in AUv3, each unit is sandboxed so the entire memory can be snapshot and restored. Crashes don't affect the host. the beaconing that happens in VST is just how developers try to implement their own DRM. Apple doesn't allow this in their app store so most AUv3s use apples

audio units have state and patch recall and are generally more secure.

for example, loads of VSTs beacon to a server and wont work if they dont.

I have a moogerfooger LPF that I keep in my FX loop.

I've tried using the Plaits documentation to supplement the awful behringer manual to try and figure out what the timber, haromnics, and morph do for each model.
