☀️ Day 4
📖 Reading The Stand
✍️ by Stephen King
✅ 261/ 1211 pages

Daily Progress report:

I’m pissed off tbh. At barely 200 pages in some magic happened. Nothing since but I was hoping for a good ole fashioned apocalypse novel.

Rough time for Nick, Larry and Fran.

How goes Book 5 of the southern reach trilogy Jeff 😂
She’s not that worried about the revolution, if I remember correctly, and is happier with her quiet revolt.

Newman’s novel gives her character the fleshing out it deserves.
I can relate. I was a secondary school teacher for about a decade. Such a time vacuum.
Yes. It’s Julia- highly recommend the book by Sandra Newman (I believe).

Never really had much time for Winston as a character *ducks*.
I actually really enjoyed this section of the novel.

I think Orwell included it to show the severe contrast between a utopia and a dystopia, between socialism and fascism.

It’s easy bait for the characters, who wouldn’t want that instead of Big Brother?!
Definitely up there 😂
lol. Thank you. 8th Nov (I share mine with a certain Mr Stoker).
He’s so easy to read! I’ve asked for a copy of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon for my birthday- first read it in 1999, I think. Proper nostalgia!
I’m a bit snobby with Frankenstein, I’m in being truthful, and haven’t really watched an adaptation that’s blown me away so I’m hopeful this one is IT!
Roughly 200 pages into the stand!
Atwood’s always a great read!
I wrote my dissertation on Frankenstein, and wrote a piece on Medium last week about how Victor grates on me- I’m invested in this new film already 😂

Piece here for reference:
Confession: I’ve gone off Frankenstein.

Finished my reread last week!
☀️ Day 3
📖 Reading The Stand
✍️ by Stephen King
✅ 177/ 1211 pages

Daily Progress report:

More time spent with Nick and Larry. Deaths starting to feel a bit more emotional as minor characters start to get ill to feed the larger narrative of the novel.

The Dracula one is nice!
Literally finished this on Wednesday. Same edition too!

Wrote a snotty analysis of Victor on my Medium page 😂
☀️ Day 2 of
📖 Reading The Stand by
✍️ Stephen King
✅ 128 pages in

Daily Progress report:

Lots of people died. It reminds me of the early anxieties surrounding Covid which, oddly, makes me identify with the story on a more profound level. I feel like I’ve lived it.

The Stand by Stephen King!
I love Criminal Minds but holy shit it’s been good since the reboot.
Oooooh. Tell me about the hole. I’ve seen it in Waterstones.
Not necessarily in that order but all worthy non-fiction reads that start a bit morose but end with a bit of soul.
Ok Stephen King readers.

I’m about to read my first King novel since Revival (2014).

I’m jumping straight back in with The Stand- all 1200 pages. Does ANYONE have any tips when approaching this behemoth?!

Help!

Concerned this might reawaken my naughties King obsession! 😂
